Awareness is the greatest agent for change! This is our Boot Sister inspiration for the day.

As we begin our audition process, there may be many thoughts of fear that arise. I want to be able to share the techniques I use to find peace throughout my day and the practices I use to arrive there. I spend at least an hour every morning with a focus on prayer, mediation, my intentions for the day, and writing gratitudes. I wanted to be able to share my journey to mental wellness with you as it has helped me to change my life. Since April of 2025, I have lost 46 pounds. I didn’t accomplish this goal just by cutting out all alcohol or eating a plant-based diet. It begins each day with how I allow my thoughts to take shape. Here’s how I do it:
Each day upon waking, I become aware of each thought that enters my mind. I then recognize that I have a choice to determine whether those thoughts will work for good or will work against me. This is the one thing that is within our control. We hold power over our thoughts not people, places, or things. One must be careful what thoughts take hold, because thoughts become identities and identities become the action that we take.
Consider this: All the we are is the result of what we have thought. We are formed and molded by our thoughts. Those whose minds are shaped by selfish or self-doubted thoughts cause misery when they speak or act. Then that suffering follows them everywhere.
We don’t suffer when difficult emotions arise. We suffer because we become them, unconsciously mistaking them for who we are.
So much of life is on autopilot, moving through our days lost in thought while our bodies simply go through the motions. When something triggers us and anger or fear arises, our default is to identify with it. We say, “I am angry” or “I am afraid”, and the emotion takes the wheel and then takes us for a ride. Awareness changes that.
With awareness, we step back and become the witness, instead of saying, “I am angry” we can say “there is anger”. We notice that anger is present, or fear is present without becoming it. In that moment of noticing, we’re no longer trapped inside the reaction, we are simply observing it. We’re present, connected, and free to choose how we respond.
Awareness empowers and reconnects us to our higher self, bringing intention, clarity, and purpose back into our experience of life.
May we cultivate greater awareness in our daily moments, allowing presence to soften reactivity, restore choice, and guide us toward a more intentional and meaningful experience of life.
This was my meditative walk today, and I hope it can be a vehicle to help restore positive thoughts that lead to a more peaceful life.
